Summer Competitive Youth Rowers

COMPETITIVE YOUTH PROGRAM

The goal of summer rowing is to provide an opportunity for our athletes to train hard in a low pressure environment, to improve technique and maintain fitness.  The majority of the rowing will be done in a  sculling boat. Those who do not have sculling experience will be taught They will need to pass a "flip test" in advance of the start of the program. See details below. A competition schedule is provided to enhance racing skills for both our rowers and coxswains. This is an excellent opportunity for our coxswains to gain more experience both in running practices and racing in coxed fours.

  • We race as Bare Hill Rowing Association during the summer. Athletes need to add BHRA to their USRowing profile.
    Find instructions HERE
  • Athletes will need to hold a Championship level US Rowing Membership.
  • A summer unisuit order will be required for anyone choosing to race at Canadian Henley.

Parents of younger participants: Please note, summer competitive rowing is not recreational. The structure of the program requires athletes who are self-reliant and can successfully complete a work out on their own in a single. Due to town regulations of no wake in the early hours on the pond, athletes will be given workouts to follow and coaches station themselves along the training path and monitor the rowers as they pass by.
